Meet Millie – Our School Mentor Dog
We are delighted to introduce Millie, our beautiful chocolate Labrador, who has recently passed her mentor dog training and will be joining us in school each week. Millie has been specially trained to work alongside children, providing comfort, encouragement and calm support throughout the school day. Her gentle, friendly nature helps children build confidence, regulate emotions and develop positive relationships. Whether listening to a child read, supporting wellbeing sessions or simply offering a reassuring presence, Millie is already becoming a much-loved member of our school family.
Millie completed her training with The Dog Mentor, a specialist organisation that prepares dogs to work safely and effectively within educational settings. Through this programme, Millie has been assessed for temperament, obedience and suitability to work with children. Research shows that school dogs can have a positive impact on pupils’ wellbeing, attendance and engagement, and we are excited about the many ways Millie will help our children flourish — academically, socially and emotionally.
