Safeguarding Children

At Cadmore End, children’s safety and wellbeing come first. We are committed to providing a safe, caring environment where every child feels valued, listened to and able to ask for help.

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. All staff, governors and volunteers are expected to share our commitment to protecting children and promoting their welfare. We work closely with families and other professionals to identify concerns early and provide appropriate support.

Worried About a Child?

If you are concerned about a child’s safety or wellbeing, please contact our Designated Safeguarding Lead, Mrs Debbie Groom, or one of our deputy safeguarding leads through the school office on 01494 881460.

You do not need to be certain that something is wrong before sharing a concern.

If a child is in immediate danger, call 999. Do not wait for school to reopen or respond to a message.

Our Safeguarding Team

Our Designated Safeguarding Lead and deputy safeguarding leads are pictured below. Please speak to any member of the team if you have a concern about a child.

Listening to Children

We encourage children to speak to a trusted adult whenever something worries them. Through everyday conversations and our curriculum, children learn about staying safe, healthy relationships, online safety and how to seek help.

Our message to every child is simple: “If something worries you, tell an adult you trust. We will listen and help.”

Working with Families

We aim to work openly and sensitively with parents and carers, offering support early when difficulties arise.

Where appropriate, we will discuss safeguarding concerns with families. However, we may need to seek advice or share relevant information with safeguarding professionals without parental consent where this is necessary to protect a child.

Concerns About an Adult Working in School

If you have a safeguarding concern about a member of staff, volunteer or another adult working in school, please report it directly to Mrs Debbie Groom, Headteacher, by calling 01494 881460.

If your concern relates to the Headteacher, please contact Mr Oliver Westby, Chair of Governors, directly.

Please do not raise the concern with the adult involved. Concerns will be taken seriously and managed in accordance with our Child Protection Policy.
