OFSTED 2024: GOOD in all areas! “There is a really strong, inclusive culture in this school that promotes equality for all, and that is really modelled through all staff and through the leadership, because all children are welcome here and the school does everything they can to care, nurture and educate.” (OFSTED 24)

Mental Health and Wellbeing

‘From small beginnings come great things’ – Matthew 13:31–32

At Cadmore End, we balance each child’s educational, pastoral and emotional needs so they can flourish now and in the future. Mental health and wellbeing are central to this. All staff are trained in Growth Mindset, and these principles underpin how we teach, support and encourage our children.

We have a dedicated Mental Health and Wellbeing Teacher, and we work closely with Buckinghamshire’s MHST, who provide tailored support for pupils and families both in school and at home.

Working with the Virtual School

We are proud to work in partnership with the Buckinghamshire Virtual School as part of our whole-school journey to become a trauma-informed school. Their training— including PACE and the relational 4Rs/5Rs—helps staff understand how experiences affect behaviour, emotions and learning.

This approach is shaping a calmer, more nurturing environment where children feel safe, understood and ready to learn.

Benefits of Our Trauma-Informed Approach

  • Improved emotional regulation

  • Stronger, more trusting relationships

  • Reduced stress and anxiety

  • Increased engagement and readiness to learn

  • More positive behaviour and restorative responses

  • A calmer school environment for everyone
