Our Governing Body

Cadmore End is a maintained voluntary-aided Church of England school. Our Governing Body provides strategic leadership and works closely with the Headteacher to support the continued development and success of the school.

The Governing Body has three core responsibilities:

• Ensuring that the school’s vision, ethos and strategic direction are clear
• Holding the Headteacher and senior leaders to account for the educational performance and wellbeing of pupils
• Overseeing the school’s financial performance and ensuring that its resources are used effectively

As a voluntary-aided school, the Governing Body is also the legal employer of the school’s staff and has an important role in maintaining and developing the school’s distinctive Christian character.

Our governors are volunteers drawn from the school, church and wider community. They bring a valuable range of skills, knowledge and experience to their role. Governors provide both support and constructive challenge, helping to ensure that decisions are always made in the best interests of our pupils.

The Governing Body makes decisions collectively. Individual governors cannot make decisions or exercise the powers of the Governing Body independently, unless a specific responsibility has been formally delegated to them. The Chair of Governors may act on behalf of the Governing Body in certain urgent circumstances or where delegated authority has been agreed.

Our Governing Body Constitution

Our Governing Body is made up of:

• Two parent governors, elected by parents and carers
• Seven foundation governors, appointed by the Oxford Diocese and Cadmore End Parochial Church Council, including the Vicar of the parish
• Two staff governors, comprising the Headteacher and one governor elected by school staff
• One local authority governor, nominated by Buckinghamshire Council and appointed by the Governing Body

Becoming a Governor

Becoming a school governor is a rewarding opportunity to contribute to the life and future of our school. We welcome interest from people who are committed to supporting our pupils, staff and community.
